Day 9 of the Living Water Project

Hello  Great Paxton Church followers….. I have posted  quite a lot of photos from Day 9 action on …. but here are some more.

A young archeologist  from Andy came out from the Oxford Archeology Unit East based at Barhill and carefully took up the rest of the stones in the tower base which had been buried face down and brought them outside. He photographed many of them taking care to brush them and measure them first.

Here is Bert Goodwin taking a close look at a stone in the tower base – it is clear now that it has 1604 on it.

Sorry the pattern doesnt come out too well, but this stone has an interesting pattern and may have been a coffin lid?

We have a visit from the University of The Third Age ( U3A) tomorrow at c 2.30pm  from Melbourn – will make sure no one falls into a trench!
