Day 2 of the action men

Day 2 August 13th - Lance drilling 2

Lance drilling holes in the tower wall ready to receive the joists for new ringers’ floor.

DAY 2 August 13th - lance, mike and Glenn outside

Glenn, Lance and my son Mike looking at the stones retrieved from the tower base floor- the carved sides had been buried pointing downwards in the floor. Had they been left over from when the tower was added on and a wall taken down to make way for the tower ( c 1300’s) ?

Day 2 - August 13th - stone slab in tower floor

another large slab lifted from the tower floor.

Day 2 August 13th - stone slab 164

Was this a slab covering a burial? There seems to be only three numbers – 164…. cant see where another  one would have been carved. Maybe it was started and not finished.

We need the archeologist out tomorrow…

Finally, I think its a bat…

is it a bat 2

tiny little carving at the base of a capital – could be a bat?

More tomorrow…..
